Road Improvements: The majority of the subdivision roads surface will require milling 1.5 inches down and overlaying 1.5 inches of Asphalt (Design mix S9.5C). Some sections will have to be milled 2 inches, and the gravel base will have to be reconditioned, where wheel ruts and potholes will be filled with gravel (type ABC) and the entire base will be compacted and must pass a proof roll before being overlaid with 1.5 inches of asphalt (Design mix S9.5C). On West Bay Drive from station mark 1+61 to 2+18, from station mark 3+54 to 3+94, and 4+70 up to and including Cul-De-Sac recondition base and reconstruct the crown. The contractor will have the option of adding ABC gravel base or additional asphalt to reestablish the crown of the road. The contractor will be responsible for providing all tools, equipment and materials to complete the work. Proper traffic control measures and signage will be necessary to control access during construction. Access to all houses and active construction sites will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. The contractor will be responsible for coordinating with County staff to witness proof rolls. The contractor is also responsible for pulling asphalt cores every 1,000 feet of travel lane and tested per NCDOT specifications as presented in NCDOT Quality Control Manual (NCDOT QMS Manual Section 10).
