a. Site Assessment and Planning • Conduct a comprehensive site assessment to analyze terrain, existing vegetation, waterways, and environmental considerations. • Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with local regulations and obtain necessary permits. b. Course Layout and Design • Create a preliminary course layout based on site assessments and consultations with stakeholders. • Ensure PDGA compliance for championship-level design standards, including hole distances, basket placements, and tee box dimensions. • Identify fairway routes, obstacles, and out-of-bounds areas to maximize both challenge and player safety. • Develop alternative layouts if the space or conditions warrant, such as shorter or beginnerfriendly layouts. • Map out course signage and wayfinding to guide players between holes and to/from parking or nearby amenities. c. Environmental and Safety Considerations • Incorporate sustainable design practices that minimize impact on natural habitats and resources. • Ensure ADA accessibility for key areas, including tee pads, baskets, walkways, and access paths where possible. • Identify and mitigate potential hazards, such as water crossings, dense brush, and potential wildlife concerns. d. Course Features and Materials • Design and install professional-grade tee pads (concrete or an alternative durable material) with dimensions as per championship requirements. • Procure and install championship-grade disc golf baskets that meet PDGA standards.
