The Township of Bloomfield is assembling a pool of approximately 3 to 5 hearing officers to assist, as needed, with disciplinary hearings involving both uniformed and non-uniformed Township employees. The Township Hearing Officer shall have at least seven (7) years of experience with municipal and/or local government entities, and at least three (3) years of experience as a hearing officer. The Township Hearing Officer shall be experienced in the areas of labor relations, contract negotiations, arbitration and grievance procedures, Civil Service regulations and general New Jersey local government law. The Township Hearing Officer shall possess the ability to hear and decide complex municipal law and labor issues and provide the Township with the following services: 1. Serve as hearing officer for disputes including, but not limited to, major and minor disciplinary actions, suspensions, terminations, and grievances. 2. Prepare detailed findings of fact and conclusions of law with respect to hearings. 3. Render fair and impartial decisions. 4. Legal research and/or advisory opinions as needed. 5. Attend meetings of the Governing Body upon request. 6. Appropriate departmental training and any other related matters as directed by the Township Administrator or his/her designee.
