The Oregon President’s Council seeks to create an inventory of existing shared services and solicit recommendations for further opportunities for shared services in the future among Oregon Community Colleges. For the purpose of this solicitation, shared services would be defined as any collaborative effort between college entities such as academic programming. All 17 Community Colleges in the State of Oregon would be included in this inventory. The creation of this inventory is funded through one -time funding provided by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission. The purpose of exploring shared services among community colleges is to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality across institutions. With collaboration and innovation at the core, shared services open new possibilities for pooling resources, expertise, and administrative functions. Community Colleges can reduce redundancies, achieve economies of scale, and reinvest savings into student-centered programs and services. These models not only modernize infrastructure and streamline processes but also align colleges with shared goals of relevance, affordable access, and a sense of belonging, fostering a cohesive and resilient educational network. By focusing on leadership and equity, these efforts aim to strengthen the quality of education, support staff, and improve access for students, creating a more inclusive, accessible, and effective community college system.
