The Brookfield School District invites qualified contractors to submit sealed bids to replace the existing H. B. Smith Series 28A-14 hydronic boiler and Power Flame oil burner fuel type #2 oil at Whisconier Middle School, 15 West Whisconier Road, Brookfield CT. 06804. Installation shall include standard equipment, including but not limited to: • Cast iron wet base sections • Stainless steel return Temperature stabilizer • ASME safety 40-psi relief valve • Manual reset Hi-Limit control • Stack thermometer • Operating controls • Insulated metal jacket • Burner mounting plate with insulation block • Oil Burner and operating controls Supply and return piping will connect to existing distribution piping with schedule 40 steel pipe and Victaulic fittings. New 5” ductile iron butterfly valves on supply and return. Oil burner will connect to the existing oil supply manifold with new pipe, fittings, check valves, pressure gauges and accessories. Boiler make up water supply will include a new pressure reducing boiler feed valve and a new testable backflow device. Contractor will remove and dispose of the existing boiler and accessories. Contractor will provide all material and labor to install new boiler, oil burner and related accessories. The installation will be pressure tested. Contractor will provide set up and startup of the boiler and oil burner including combustion test by a qualified technician and manufacturer’s representative. Contractor will provide a licensed electrician for field wiring and shall connect the new equipment to the Johnson Controls Metasys building automation system to match the existing configurations. Contractor will provide and install new smoke pipe from the new boiler to the existing metal chimney. Contractor will obtain a permit for the installation and confirm the installation is compliant with all necessary building codes. Contractor will schedule periodic and final inspections with the Town of Brookfield Building Department as required. Contractor may provide specifications and pricing for an alternate make and model of boiler/burner for the installation. Contractor will service and maintain the boiler and oil burner for a period of one year from date of completion. Alternate #1: Provide an alternate price for material and labor to add an appropriate volume of glycol to the distribution system to achieve 30-32% glycol. (Estimated 500 gallon of Safe-T-Therm HD Concentrate or equivalent based on historic data).
