The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that improving healthy behaviors and utilizing preventative services is highly beneficial and results in improved disease outcomes and enhanced quality of life.1 Evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs offer many benefits for older adults, including: improved quality of life; increased self-efficacy; increased or maintained independence, positive health behaviors, or mobility; reduced disability; reduced pain; and improved mental health.2 Funded by Title III-B and Title III-D of the OAA, State of Illinois General Revenue Funds, the American Rescue Plan (ARP), and Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), the program, delivered by qualified fitness instructors/professionals at our 21 senior centers and 12 community site locations (DFSS may reserve the right to add additional sites base on funding), and through online and over-the-phone platforms, offers the following Core Services: Group Exercise Classes (i.e., evidence-based fitness programs on strength building, flexibility training, and aerobics/cardio) One-on-one Personal Training (i.e., personalized evaluations and support) Social Isolation/Recreation Programming (i.e., site/community specific classes, and other innovative initiatives)
