2 The Direct Supervision Escort (DSE) will be required to: A. Provide timely transportation of the SVP to and from approved destinations. B. Communicate with DOC Monitoring Center at start and finish of escorted outings. DSE will contact DOC Monitoring Center (MC) upon arrival and upon return. C. Maintain continuous direct supervision of SVP throughout approved outings. When direct supervision is not required or permitted, maintain continuous observation of the area so that the SVP is unable to leave the privileged activity without detection. D. Document the approved outing from start to finish, including contacts made with Monitoring Center, and disseminate documentation to DOC and DHS. Refer to Section 3.4.1, DSE Service Report Log. E. Report any program or rule violations or attempts of violations to DOC. Local law enforcement authorities and Monitoring Center may also need to be contacted. Examples of this behavior will be covered in DOC approved training. After hours reporting must include contact with the on-call DOC Field Supervisor. Also refer to Sections 3.4.2.3 and 3.4.2.4. 3.2.3 When direct supervision is not required or permitted, DSE must maintain continuous observation of the area so that the SVP is unable to leave the privileged activity without detection. Exceptions to Direct Supervision will only be allowed when necessary to protect patient privacy rights and maintain confidentiality of privileged communications, unless ordered by the court or waived in writing by the SVP patient. The DSE will not be required (in some cases, will not be permitted) to maintain direct supervision during: • SVP’s communication with attorney; • SVP’s communication with religious counselor; • SVP’s communication with physician or other medical provider; • SVP’s participation in medical examination, health care emergencies including emergency transports, or other medical procedures; • SVP’s participation in sex offender programs or other mental health therapy or related testing...
