The City of Greenville is seeking proposals for design services for a wheeled sports park facility that will be the first of its kind in the area. The project consists of intensive public input and stakeholder coordination, turn-key design and engineering, cost estimating, bid development, permitting, and value engineering as necessary for construction. This brand-new park facility is to be designed to fit an approximately 10-acre site located adjacent to the Greenville Downtown Airport, which is under a 50-year lease by the City of Greenville. The goal of this project is to design and engineer a best-in-class concrete skatepark, Velosolutions asphalt pumptrack, and bicycle playground with associated facilities. In addition to the skatepark, pumptrack, and bicycle playground, the associated facilities related to the development and operation of the wheeled sports park must also be included in public input, stakeholder discussions, and design/engineering and must include elements such as but not limited to: art opportunities, restrooms, observation/viewing decks, shade, water stations, a central building / structure, parking, stormwater, lighting, maintenance facilities, security, and shared use pathway connectivity to the nearby Swamp Rabbit Trail network. The design will need to complement the adjacent Greenville Downtown Airport District’s “Community Corridor” developments, as well as conform with any relevant master plans, overlay studies, design guidelines and design guidance from City Staff to ensure its uniformity with existing City of Greenville park facilities and the larger context and goals of the City of Greenville in this area.
