1. Prosecution and Defense of Civil Claims: Spartanburg County is seeking Professional Legal Services related specifically to the prosecution and defense of civil claims on the behalf of the County, including, but not limiting to, claims and actions threatened or pending in the South Carolina Court System, including appellate courts, the Federal Court System, including appellate courts, and the South Carolina Administration Law Court. Spartanburg County seeks to hire and retain litigation counsel to defend civil claims asserted against the County and pursue appropriate counterclaims, and the prosecution of civil claims on the behalf of the County. Often, this representation is provided through an insurance carrier. However, where no insurance coverage exists or where insurance coverage is denied, the County needs the ability to hire and enter a contract with a law firm directly. 2. Intellectual Property and Environmental Law: Spartanburg County is seeking Professional Legal Services related to intellectual property and environmental law. Specifications include but or not limited to the following: Providing legal advice, counsel, and representation for establishment and protection of trademarks and copyrights, and prosecute any potential intellectual property infringement claims Providing legal advice and counsel regarding environmental matters. 3.
