Specifications include, but are not limited to: to establish a land-based coral restoration nursery on Kaua'i to increase capacity for emergency coral reef restoration and establishment of long-term restorative aquaculture infrastructure, partnerships, and volunteer networks. Build the infrastructure for an ex-situ coral nursery. Create and finalize ex-situ nursery designs and relevant environmental consultations and permitting. Ensure proper County, State, and Federal regulations are met, and proper permits are obtained for operating an ex situ coral restoration nursery with particular emphasis on water quality, invasive species mitigation, and quarantine procedures. Offeror must provide non-federal cash or in-kind match of $20,000 as leveraged funds as required by the grant. Engage partners and community members in coral reef conservation and restoration. Programs should target local schools, community organizations, and volunteers who support conservation activities. This project will develop outreach and engagement strategies, lessons, and resources that are coral reef conservation-focused, and will organize volunteer opportunities and engagement around the project.
