A) Groundskeeping – General Requirements All Locations: 1. Vendor shall supply all necessary fuel, oil, equipment, and materials to perform proper groundskeeping. A list of equipment shall be furnished with each bid. 2. Vendors must be able to, in all cases, adjust the height of cut to prevent burning of any lawn or sports field areas. 3. The vendor shall be responsible for ensuring that all areas are maintained as specified in this contract, and there shall be no predetermined number of cuttings. The contract price shall cover all cuttings necessary to ensure the proper maintenance of all areas. 4. At the beginning of the contract period in March, the vendor shall provide a spring cleanup to include removal of any fallen debris, limbs, and cleanup of all leaves on the fields and around the perimeter areas. The cost of this is to be included in the overall contract cost, and not billed on an hourly basis. 5. The vendor shall ensure that all areas are mowed and trimmed immediately prior to any holiday occurring during the mowing season. 6. Trash pick-up (intended to mean litter on the fields or lawns) shall be performed prior to all cuttings. 7. String-trimming (aka “weed whacking”) shall be conducted at every cutting. 8. After each cutting, clippings are to be bagged and taken off-site unless otherwise directed by the Town. 9. Sod shall be replaced in high wear areas of all sites as the need arises. Vendor shall specify the unit price per square foot for this activity as a separate item and not include it in the lump sum prices. 10. Walkways, where applicable, shall be maintained in a cleaned/swept condition. 11. Pavers, such as and including those used at the Town Common Veterans Memorial, shall be: a) Blown off after each mowing. b) Weeded and/or sprayed for weeds as needed. 12. All areas shall undergo a final clean-up at the end of the contract period; the cost for which is to be included in the overall contract cost, and not billed on an hourly basis. 13. If any additional areas are added to the site-list(s) during contract period, the Town reserves the right to negotiate any additional charge(s) with the contractor. 14. The vendor shall provide a per unit rate for the items listed in the bid forms, including, but not limited to: per man labor rate, bobcat rate, dump truck rate, backhoe rate. B) Groundskeeping - Pruning 1. Shall be performed two (2) times per contract year for all facilities listed under the bid form, with the exception of the Route 111 By-pass (see Section IV: H). The vendor shall provide a per hour cost for any additional pruning’s, if necessary. C) Groundskeeping – Lawn Areas 1. Vendor should be prepared to submit a proposed schedule of cuttings to the General Services Director, Recreation Director or their designee. 2. All lawn areas are to be kept in an acceptable condition, and not allowed to grow longer than four inches (4”+/-). 3. All areas are to be trimmed around all walls, fence lines, trees, shrubbery and buildings. 4. Maintenance of the Town Beach grassy areas should include regular cuttings and weeding. All grassy areas on the beach property will be maintained, including the area outside the fence along Cobbetts Pond Road.
