Carteret County Government is soliciting competitive proposals to replace approximately twenty (20) existing wooden windows with new, energy-efficient windows that meet all codes, and improve the functionality, security and aesthetics at the New Admin Building located at 210 Turner Street, Beaufort, NC 28516. The Contractor shall abide by the details and shall refer to the diagram and associated pictures in addition to the scope of work specified within the documents provided below. Preparation • Remove all windows identified as 1-20 on the diagram below, in phases, which will be scheduled by Carteret County Government. • The Contractor shall replace all rot, mold or damaged surroundings, if present. • All existing painted surfaces surrounding the windows shall be cleaned of all moisture, dirt, oil, grease, rust, and other foreign matter prior to painting. Necessary site preparation such as scraping, sanding, pressure washing, caulking, hole repair, wood replacement and priming shall be performed as needed to ensure smooth/flush surface and integrity of the end product. Filler(s) shall be smooth to the contour of object. • Casing for windows shall be altered in a way that there are no gaps or overhangs for both interior and exterior after the new windows are installed, if necessary. • Provide and set up interior protection of furniture, flooring, walls and ceiling for dust and debris. New Window Specifications • Furnish and install new windows that consist of two (2) sizes, “Small Windows” – (identify on map) 66” x 36½” and “Large Windows” – 66” x 37½”. • New windows shall consist of the following features –Traditional grille pattern, wood-clad, single hung, DP-50, UV blocking, Tempered glass, duel pane argon filled, foam-filled frames, (tint)? There are blinds.) removable screens, white cam locks, and sash lift. Window components shall be white. • New windows shall be installed following manufactures instructions and recommendations, ensuring the windows are level and square. • Ensure all windows are flashed, weather-tight and securely fastened. • All gaps shall be properly sealed with weatherproof materials. • The Contractor shall provide submittals for proposed windows with their proposal. • Exterior Super Paint, Semi-gloss paint, or equivalent with County approval, shall be applied evenly by brush or roller without runs, drips, air bubbles or other defects to all areas being painted with a minimum of two coats. All exterior window surroundings shall be painted to match existing finish and color. • All paint and painting materials shall be moved offsite before start of business. At no time shall brushes or rollers be cleaned onsite. • All surroundings shall be sanded, prepped, and caulked both interior and exterior, as necessary. • If interior paint is needed, it shall match the existing finish and color.
