Lester Dingle Water Treatment Plant has shown high levels of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) formed along the raw water (RW) pipeline conveying water from the Fishing Creek Reservoir to the Lester Dingle Water Treatment Plant. The Mountain Water Supply system consists of Fishing Creek Reservoir and approximately five miles long raw water transmission main (RWTM) feeding the Lester Dingle Water Treatment Plant by gravity. Currently, disinfectant (Chlorine) is fed to the raw water transmission main at the reservoir and the extended contact time between the disinfectant and natural organic matter (NOM) in raw water forms high concentration of DBPs, prior to reaching the Lester Dingle Water Treatment Plant. This Project will provide DBPs improvements at the Mountain Water Supply (Fishing Creek and L. R. Dingle) facilities ensures continued compliance with current DBP Stage 2 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules.
