The project includes a partial interior renovation of an existing building on the University of Kentucky’s Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) campus. The building’s existing Mortar and Concrete Lab is being subdivided to allow new administrative program space to exist within the current lab footprint. The newly defined spaces will include two offices and one conference room. As a part of this renovation, finish upgrades will be applied in the existing three offices. A new wall, extending to the underside of structure, is included to separate the remaining Mortar and Concrete Lab from the new conference room. Contract includes the removal of an existing prefabricated environmental chamber. The wall and ceiling assemblies will consist of a mixture of cold-formed framing and non-structural metal framing clad in gypsum board with a painted finish. New floor finishes are limited to textile composite flooring in select areas. Contractor is expected to coordinate with owner’s separate contract for new environmental chamber to be installed concurrent with this contract. The total project area to be renovated is 2,856 SF.
