This project is being undertaken by Residential Life to retrofit all existing fluorescent light fixtures with LED lamps in order to adhere to MN Center for Energy and Environment’s Clean Lighting Bill. The retrofit will include 6 full residence wings, Carkoski Commons, McElroy Lobby, Crawford Lobby, underground service tunnels and maintenance areas, and main building corridors, totaling approximately 346,000 sq.ft. of space. As a part of the planning process, we expect recommendations on tube replacement, retrofit kits, and new fixtures, based on each fixture type, including pros, cons, and associated costs. We expect a physical survey and identification of which existing fixtures in these areas need to be included for retrofit per the Clean Lighting Bill’s requirements. The project will be constructed in 3 phases with specific deadlines inside of the total construction timeline for different area functions/types to be completed by (see Proposed Project Milestone section). The Owner intends to use the Design/Bid/Build delivery method for this project.
