Macon County is accepting qualifications for geotechnical engineering, materials testing and special inspections for the construction phase of upcoming construction projects on the campus of Franklin High School and Highlands School. Franklin High School: This project is the construction of a new high school facility of approximately 277,000 SF, a new athletics stadium with auxiliary buildings, demolition of existing facilities and associated site‐work on the approximately 27‐acre site of the existing high school campus. The new work has an estimated construction cost of $123,000,000 and will be provided through a Construction Manager at Risk delivery method. The project location is Franklin High School, 100 Panther Drive, Franklin, NC 28734. Anticipated Project Schedule: subject to change by Owner and CM at Risk Start of Construction: approximately October 31, 2024 New Stadium Completion: approximately January 2026 New High School Completion: June 2027 Building Demolition and final phase site work Completion: March 2028 Highlands School: This project is the construction of a new 2‐story, 4‐classroom addition on deep foundations and associated sitework at the existing middle school building on the campus of Highlands School. The new work has an estimated construction cost of $5,000,000 and will be provided through a Construction Manager at Risk Delivery method. The project location is Highlands School, 545 Pierson Drive, Highlands, NC 28741.
