• Excavation of 12 test pits (TP-1 through TP-12) to a maximum depth of 2 feet below ground surface (bgs) and grab surface soil samples from five locations at the approximate former location of apartment buildings. • From each test pit, the collection of two soil samples: one from 0 to 0.5 feet bgs and one from the interval exhibiting the greatest environmental impact or, if no environmental impact is observed, then from 1.5 to 2 feet bgs. • For quality control purposes, collection of one duplicate soil sample and one equipment rinse blank sample of non-disposable, decontaminated sampling equipment. • Soil samples and quality control samples were analyzed for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) 8 metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and diesel-range organics (DRO). Surface soil samples from five locations at the approximate former location of apartment buildings were analyzed for asbestos content. Analytical methods used are identified in Section 4.3.
