Retain a Contractor to overhaul 5 recently acquired Bombardier Bi-Level Passenger Coach Cars, and 38 UTA Bombardier Bi-Levels Coach Cars and Cab Cars. CARBODY 1.1 GENERAL 1. The carbody shall be overhauled and all necessary repairs made to correct damages, deformations, failures, leaks, corrosion, and defects and to provide an appearance consistent with the color scheme specified by UTA. 2. Vehicles shall be de-trucked and the carbody exterior thoroughly inspected for damage, cracks, and corrosion. 3. Corrosion treatment shall be applied where necessary. 4. The Contractor shall perform detailed inspection of each vehicle structure to identify locations requiring repair due to debris strikes, collision, or vandalism and submit the findings to UTA for review, whereupon the Contractor shall perform the repairs as determined by a joint finding review with UTA. As part of this inspection, vehicles shall receive a water tightness test to determine the extent of work required, with special attention given to those areas exhibiting prior leakage, such as window openings. [CDRL 1.01 Water Tightness Test]. 5. The Contractor shall perform repairs as determined necessary by joint review with UTA. 6. All weather stripping, gaskets, caulking, and seals shall be replaced. This replacement aims to maintain effective weatherproofing and prevent moisture ingress. 7. All exterior handholds, ladder steps, HVAC grills, side skirts, hinges, latches, mounting hardware, and any other exterior fixtures shall be inspected, replaced/repaired as necessary, and painted to match UTA’s current color scheme. 8. Side frame damage which is not the result of exterior damage or other visible abnormality that is not anticipated will be considered as extra work and treated through the replacement item list. [CDRL 1.02 Carbody Inspection Report] 9. The roof shall be refurbished. Any corroded or damaged side sheet, end sheet, and roof rivets shall be replaced. 10. All roof mounted equipment that is now redundant shall be removed and resealed to ensure water tightness integrity.
