The Minnesota Department of Education intends to proceed with processing the registration for a staff member to attend the Humphrey Policy Fellows program at the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs. The Humphrey Fellowes Program includes a cohort experience, skills-based workshops, guest speakers and discussions, exposure to different perspectives and views, opportunity to apply skills in group projects and a study trip to Washington DC. Topics will include leadership development, intercultural competency and conflict fluency, ways of knowing, engaging and building trust with stakeholders and coalitions, Minnesota state government, adaptive leadership, strategic communication and presentations from group projects. There is no other vendor in Minnesota that provides mid-career policy experts training in policy analysis and cross-cultural, cross-aisle leadership. MDE does not have the capability, expertise or resources to provide this training and support internally.
