Hennepin County (“County”), State of Minnesota, through the Housing and Economic Development Department (HED), is soliciting applications for Active Living Program Grants (the “Grant”). As used herein, the entity/individual responsible for any awarded Grant may be referred to as the “Applicant” and the Applicant’s response to this solicitation (the “Solicitation”) may be referred to as the “Application”. Hennepin County’s Housing and Economic Development department aims to drive meaningful improvements, catalyze economic opportunity, and create a shared prosperity where all Hennepin County communities can enjoy a sustainably high quality of life and equitable access to economic opportunity regardless of race, place, or income. To achieve those aims, HED manages a portfolio of programs to attract and support development, foster inclusive business growth, and create high quality public places. Hennepin County’s Active Living program provides cities and other public agencies resources to support healthy communities, encourage active living, and advance equity. The program aims to advance county priorities including disparity reduction, complete streets, climate resilience, and health equity. Since 2014, the program has successfully invested over $400,000 in 39 projects to support healthy and active communities. This program is offered through a collaboration between Hennepin County’s Public Health and Housing and Economic Development (HED) departments. Funding for this program is provided from the Minnesota Department of Health through the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP). Funding is available to support approximately $60,000 in technical assistance projects in 2024-25. Maximum funds per project is $20,000 – amounts may vary.
