Hennepin County, in partnership with the Cities of Minnetonka, Wayzata, and Plymouth, seeks to modernize the CSAH 15 (Gleason Lake Rd) corridor for all users in accordance with the county’s and partnering agency’s guiding policies, Complete and Green Street initiatives, and Climate Action Plan. Last reconstructed in 1965, Gleason Lake Rd is classified as a Major Collector roadway that functions as a two-way undivided facility with a select few left turn lanes and an existing off street trail. However, the majority of the corridor has a single travel lane in each direction and an off street trail on the north/west side. The existing pedestrian facilities are limited in width, lack overall ADA compliance, and are in some cases supported by aging wooden retaining walls. The roadways connecting to Gleason Lake Rd are heavily residential, and there exists a school just to the north of the project corridor. The county, in partnership with the City, seeks to replace aging surface infrastructure, implementing equitable Complete and Green Street strategies to improve safety, accessibility, and comfort for all modes, ages, and abilities along the corridor for future use.
