The scope of work for the Prosecutor includes providing a full range of Town Prosecutor services including, but not limited to the following: • Managing and prosecuting all assigned cases including but not limited to: o Preparation of pleadings. o Representing the Towns in arraignments, bench trials, motion hearings, and other related trial work. o Review of police reports and discovery. o Handling pre-trial hearings and plea negotiations. o Researching the law. o Processing and preparing cases for trial as needed. o Communicating in a timely manner with defendants and/or their attorneys, witnesses and victims, the Court Clerk, law enforcement, code enforcement, and other staff as needed. o Presenting oral and written argument of legal concepts and principles. o Working closely with the Court staff regarding administrative matters. o Responding to discovery requests and motions of defendants. o Drafting subpoenas, motions, notices, and proposed orders. o Representing the Towns in appeals from Municipal Court. • Conducting training as necessary for police officers and non-sworn staff regarding Municipal Court processes.
