The work covered by this provision consists of the removal and disposal of all types of dead animals from within the right of way limits of the state highway system in Carteret County. Domestic dead animals that have a collar must be picked up also; the Contractor will record the information off of the tags on the collar and give to the Department. The number of dead animals indicated on the bid form is an estimate for bidding purposes only and is intended to cover an entire calendar year. The actual amount may be higher or lower. In order to account for all dead animals disposed of, the Contractor shall photograph each dead animal on site. The Contractor shall provide a GPS enabled camera. A GPS enabled camera is a camera that receives GPS signals in order to mark photos with their location, date, and time. The Contractor shall submit the photographs to the Department on a flash drive, the Contractor may pick up the flash drive the following business day. The photograph shall be taken at approximately 5 to 10 feet from the carcass to identify the animal. The photographs must accompany all invoices (see Basis of Payment).
