The Sachem Fund Board (Board) is accepting applications for projects or programs that can provide a return on investment and/or create a self-sustaining legacy for both the City of Norwich (City) and the Sachem Fund. Agencies are encouraged to submit proposals that can document involvement by multiple entities, produce multiple benefits to the community or area and produce multiple outcomes that are measurable. The total anticipated amount of available funds is approximately $90,000. Funding is available for activities that align with the purpose of the Sachem Fund and meet the above criteria. Background The Norwich City Council established the Sachem Fund in January 2007 with ordinance 1553 for the purpose of furthering “the economic development of the City of Norwich and the cultural experience of its residents and tourists.” The Mohegan Tribe and City have made equal contributions to the Sachem Fund and manage the distribution of the funds together on the Board. Since its inception, the Board has awarded approximately $1.3 million in grants.
