Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Excavation - Excavation, including the removal and disposal of any type of existing sidewalk, curb, ramp, steps or pavement, shall be made to the required depths below the finished grade as shown on the plans or as directed. All soft and yielding material shall be removed and replaced with suitable material. 2. Processed Aggregate Base - The base course shall be placed in layers not to exceed six inches (6”) in depth and to such a depth that after compaction it shall be at the specified depth below the finished grade of the walk. 3. Forms - Forms shall be straight, free from warp and of sufficient strength to resist springing from the pressure of the concrete. Forms shall be of minimum 5” depth and shall have a flat surface on the top. Forms shall be securely staked, braced and held firmly to the required line and grade and shall be sufficiently tight to prevent leakage of mortar. All forms shall be cleaned and oiled or wetted before concrete is placed against them. Sheet metal templates one-eighth (⅛) inch in thickness, of the full depth and width of the walk, shall be spaced at intervals of fifteen feet (15’) or as directed by the Engineer.
