Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.1. The purpose of this solicitation is to establish a term contract or contracts for the supply and delivery of Fresh Produce Products for Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) in accordance with the specifications, terms and conditions stated in this solicitation. The scope of work for this project shall include the purchase and delivery of fresh produce products during the school year (180 days) to various school sites. All fresh produce products shall comply with the nutritional requirements set forth by local, state and federal regulatory agencies. 1.2. Please note that FCPS reserves the right to buy Virginia Grown fresh produce direct from farmers, food hubs, auctions and other small-scale aggregators when product is available. 1.3. Vendors will source a portion of their fresh produce from local farmers to support our local economy and promote sustainability and community engagement. 1.4. Vendors will, at the request of FCPS, supply produce and educational resources for two (2) taste testing events per year at the schools chosen by FCPS to educate students about the benefits of locally grown produce and the importance of sustainable farming practices.
