Design, engineering, and permitting services to support the construction of a new Terminal Building at Salem Wharf located at 10 Blaney Street in Salem, Massachusetts (the “Site”), to support the operations of the existing city-owned Salem Ferry, the Nathaniel Bowditch. The designer shall lead an initial phase to develop a study, including a preferred program, layout, and associated cost and schedule for the Terminal Building. The second phase shall include all documents necessary to produce a “shovel ready” project, including Schematic and Design Development Plans, Construction Documents and Specifications, and all necessary permits. The Terminal Building will replace an existing temporary structure which was put in place around 2011 and is at the end of its serviceable life. The new structure will allow for the continued growth and operation of the Salem Ferry. Since its official inception in 2006, the Salem Ferry has been an astounding success for the region. Between May and October, the Ferry operates five round trip commuter runs daily and transports approximately 60,000 passengers between Salem and Boston, Massachusetts. The facility will also support cruise passenger access.
