Specifications include, but are not limited to: Algae and diatoms are to be identified the genus and species level (where possible), with filter clogging and taste and odor-causing algae denoted. A summary report of algae and diatoms must be provided, including photos of organisms that can cause issues in the water treatment process or with consumption by City of Raleigh customers. The algae report must include percent Potentially Toxic Cyanobacteria (PTOX), number of algal groups, and number of taxa observed. The turnaround time for the algae and diatoms report must be within 21 days after the sample is received. Testing to be scheduled by the Raleigh Water Laboratory staff. The laboratory selected will provide the bottles and shippers necessary for transporting samples for each sampling event.
