Specifications include, but are not limited to: Aerial application of Imazapyr 4 SL herbicide by an Unmanned Aerial System (drone) on a vertical cliff face with a maximum height of approximately 100 feet and approximately 500 feet long, a maximum of 50,000 ft2 . The work will occur on the American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) property in Calvert Co., Maryland. Treatment will be completed on a single day during favorable weather and tide conditions during mid-late September 2024. Imazapyr 4 SL is a systemic herbicide that was developed, in part, for use in or near sensitive aquatic environments. It is effective on a variety of woody and herbaceous plant species throughout the growing season. The active chemical ingredient is imazapyr, an acetolactate synthase inhibitor. Treated plants stop growing soon after spray application. Necrosis becomes evident about two weeks after treatment. Because the herbicide acts by inhibiting a biosynthetic process that occurs only in plants, it is considered non-toxic to wildlife, both terrestrial and aquatic, and humans.
