Specifications include, but are not limited to: The provider shall be responsible for creating, supporting, and maintaining a committee of veterinary professionals to be designated the Alabama Veterinary Professionals Wellness Committee. The provider will also provide the necessary consultant services to develop, maintain and make available to all licensed veterinary professionals licensed to practice veterinary medicine of veterinary technology in Alabama, a program that promotes the early identification, intervention, referral for treatment, rehabilitation, and monitoring of veterinary professionals who may be impaired by reason of illness, inebriation, excessive use of drugs, narcotics, alcohol, chemicals, or other substances, or as a result of any physical or mental condition in accordance with the provisions of the Alabama Practice Act (Copy enclosed). The provider shall provide to the Board and to the Committee the following services: Receiving and evaluating reports of suspected impairment from any source, including referrals from the Board. Intervening in cases of suspected impairment. Referring impaired veterinary professionals to appropriate evaluation or treatment programs. All reports of sexual misconduct or sexual disorders will be referred directly to the Board for disposition. Monitoring the treatment and rehabilitation of impaired veterinary professionals. Providing post-treatment monitoring and aftercare support of rehabilitated impaired veterinary professionals. Providing the Board an annual statistical report on the activities of the program. The annual statistical report will not include the name or other identifying information concerning veterinary professional participating in the programs and activities of Alabama Veterinary Professionals Wellness Program
