Specifications include, but are not limited to: Discovery phase • Meet with staff: Meet with staff to talk about the project plan at the beginning of the project, learn about internal needs and preferences • Develop project timeline: Work with library staff to develop an achievable project timeline • Assess existing signage: Conduct a brief assessment of current wayfinding signage in the following areas: library main entrance, children’s room, teen room, main floor, lower level, and Pritchard Park • Language focus groups: Engage with non-native English speakers in the Chapel Hill community to ensure multilingual accessibility. • Community input: Gather insights from the Chapel Hill community to inform the signage plan. Wayfinding and signage plan The final plan should include your findings in the following areas: assessment of existing signage, community preferences, particularly non-native English speakers and neurodiverse patrons, maps of the library and park, and design plan for signage. These findings should be used to develop a plan that will help people find their way around the library and recommend which signs should be added, replaced, or combined (for example, directional markers, maps, building/room identification signs, and information kiosks) in the spaces below. • Inside the library o All rooms and spaces in the library should be identified (ie. restrooms, children’s room, main entrance, teen room, meeting rooms, etc.) through central wayfinding signage, kiosk, and/or maps. o Recommend a strategy for integrating central wayfinding signs with library material signs, eg. genre labels or shelf markers. o Create maps of the library that can be used for various purposes such as signage, printing, and digital formats. o Optional — Propose a method of digital wayfinding signage o Optional — Identify opportunities for temporary or changeable special event/marketing signage • Outside the library o Identify trails, features, and spaces in Pritchard Park (eg. Outdoor classroom, sensory trail, pollinator garden, bird blind, terrace, bike rack) through central wayfinding signage, kiosk, and/or maps. o These wayfinding methods should integrate with existing park signage/branding, as well as your proposed indoor signage o Optional —Exterior library building signage + hours signs • Cost estimate of implementation of the plan o We may implement the plan in phases based on budget. Please suggest the necessary steps or phases to implement the plan successfully.
