Specifications include, but are not limited to: Conifer Bud Capping • This treatment will require the application of bud caps in accordance with the specifications outlined in the attached Silvicultural Field Tip No.6, and at the Project Supervisor’s direction. Bud cap paper size and weight shall be as directed by the Project Supervisor. • All pine under 6' in height on each site will be capped unless other specifications are indicated on the project proposals. • The approximate number of trees per acre to cap on each site is indicated in the Project Summaries section. Hardwood Bud Capping • This treatment will require the application of 4” x 4” paper over the terminal buds of hardwood seedlings in accordance with the specifications outlined in the attached Silvicultural Field Tip Sheet, Bud Capping Hardwoods with Paper, and at the Project Supervisor’s direction. • Oak seedlings will be easiest to identify after the leaves change color, typically in late September or early October. • The approximate number of trees per acre to cap on each site is indicated in the Project Summaries section. Vole Guard Replacement • This treatment will require contractor to remove tree tubes around each living planted tree and replace with a wire hoop that is 2-3 ft in diameter and sunken into the ground and secured with rebar. • Bids will be accepted on a per tree basis
