Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Identify and target key decision makers and build relationships at federal agency level, where grants are decided. 2. Cultivate relationships with Members of Congress that can fund Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) applications submitted by NMSU (particularly the New Mexico Delegation). 3. Attain federal support for applications submitted by NMSU. 4. Assist with NMSU leadership visits to Washington D.C. 5. Assist with vetting and tracking federal applications and proposals submitted by NMSU. 6. Identify current and potential sources of funding and provide information regarding research priorities, funding opportunities, and funding trends for funding agencies, and other programs of interest to NMSU, and informing NMSU of these trends and funding opportunities ahead of the time that they become available. 7. Recommend and assist in connecting ideas of NMSU initiatives and proposals to funding sources before an RFP is published. 8. Recommend and assist in connecting ideas for federal appropriations and community projects (congressionally-directed spending) 9. Facilitate the participation of administration and senior faculty in key federal meetings and advisory boards. 10. Facilitate meetings with congressional offices and funding agencies and act as NMSU’s representative in briefings and provide updates and follow-up on action items. 11. Attend congressional hearings and provide detailed written analysis, including potential impacts on NMSU research, academics and student success. 12. Provide regular reports and updates about activities, issues, and policies that impact higher education, Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), land-grant universities, NMSU research, academia, and student success. 13. Facilitate research and funding collaborations with other institutions of higher Education. 14. Provide a yearly report of activities and outcomes.
