Specifications include, but are not limited to: AREA 1 @ 4.96 ACRES: This area is to be managed and restored to an oak savanna ecosystem. The goal is to restore this area to an Oak Savanna. Work over the fall of 2024 will be doing brome grass conversion and removing all woody species except for oak species. In the spring of 2025, brome grass conversion practices will continue in April and possibly May. After brome conversion practices the site will be prepped for broadcast seeding a custom native oak savanna species seed mix. During the growing season of 2025, the site will be release mowed (3x). During the summer of 2026 and 2027 contractor will conduct one visit during late June or early July for integrated plant management for invasive or noxious weed management. In the spring or fall of 2029 the contractor will conduct a prescribed burn. Late August 2024 (after August 15th) Contractor will conduct a prescribed burn. Contractor will develop a burn plan and acquire all burn permits necessary. Contractor will notify all agencies/municipalities required for conducting the burn. Contractor will install all mow breaks and site prep around obstacles. Early September 2024 Contractor will cut and treat pioneering woody species (all species except for oak). Cut material will be stacked and burned on site. Project Manager will work with contractor to determine stack and burn area. Contractor will conduct one pass with a pull behind disk ripper or chisel plow to break up the brome roots. Disking depth will be 6-12” 5 to 10 days later contractor will use a pull behind field cultivator or disk to turn soil, bury residue, and prepare seed bed. Disking depth will be 3-6” October 2024; when grass starts greening up again after tillage, contractor will apply glyphosate at 2/quarts per acre (active ingredient 41%). Contractor will follow the herbicide label. Contractor will use surfactants or non-drift agents if needed. Contractor will provide herbicide labels for chemicals being used to Project Manager before any application on the site. Contractor will deliver all herbicide application records to Project Manager by the end of each workday. April 2025 when grass starts greening up again, contractor will apply glyphosate at 2/quarts per acre (active ingredient 41%). Contractor will follow the herbicide label. Contractor will use surfactants or non-drift agents if needed.
