The Dare County Board of Commissioners are seeking a qualified consulting firm to provide a Parks and Recreation needs assessment to include, but not to limited to the following: public and key stakeholder engagement using multiple outreach techniques including surveys and public meetings, comparative analysis of other communities similar in size and character, identify the use and efficacy of existing parks, open spaces, recreation facilities and programming in the area as well as understanding the current population and market trends. The selected consulting firm will engage with County staff to gain a better understanding of the recreational activities that are currently being offered to each age group, the geographical locations of recreational activities, and engage with end users. There should be a number of public forums held to provide the various communities an opportunity to address what potential short-comings may be in the current recreational offerings as well as what other recreational activities should be considered for future offerings. A study analysis or summary of findings should also be presented to County staff at the conclusion of analysis and outreach efforts.
