Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University is seeking AE Services, in conjunction with a water infiltration expert, for the design and preparation of bidding documents for the repairs to resolve moisture infiltration issues at three different building locations. Each location is considered a "project" and will be treated as an independent Contract between the University and awarded Respondent. 1. Mayo Meditation Plaza Water Infiltration (Project # 01-074-24-2926); The Mayo Building is located at 420 Delaware Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455. The original construction of the building was in 1910 as Elliot Hospital and over the years several additions have been added, including the exterior terrace in the early 1950s. The existing concrete plaza, located on the third floor, has started to show degradation and movement, with ponding. The plaza is located over existing structures and occupied spaces that have been experiencing consistent water infiltration damage. 2. Diehl Exterior Plaza Water Infiltration Study/Design (Project # 01-111-24-2648); The Diehl Hall building was constructed in 1958, located at 505 Essex Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455. The exterior plaza, a combination of concrete and pavers, included in this project scope is located to the west of Diehl Hall, constructed in the early 1980s and was previously an extension of Union Street. The plaza has shown settling in various locations. The plaza areas directly to the North and South of the current project limits have been previously reconstructed as part of separate remediation projects. The Diehl Exterior Plaza project limits does have several surrounding buildings and any required exits or path of travel for egress should be considered and assessed as part of this scope and related to the construction and sequencing, as well as the plaza being a fire lane connection. University preference is to protect in place the existing statue located in the plaza during remediation work. 3. Weaver Densford Plaza Water Infiltration (Project # 01-147-24-2953); Weaver-Densford Hall is located at 308 Harvard Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55445 and is a ten story facility constructed in 1978. The exterior plaza identified for further analysis is located at the main entry off Harvard Street, and consists of masonry pavers that show settling, scaling and spalling. The settlement at various locations has created ponding issues and trip hazards. This plaza also has occupied spaces below show continued impacts due to the infiltration issues. As the main entry, analysis and coordination will be necessary regarding entry and existing requirements for egress and construction sequencing. The majority of the buildings foot traffic enter and exit at this location. For this project (01-147-24-2953) only, the University is asking for the base scope analysis to include the plaza corrections and an alternate analysis for corrections at the two stair towers directly adjacent the front entry plaza. The Harvard Avenue sidewalk is a publi walk and would require coordination with the City of Minneapolis if impacted by design or construction.
