The scope of services may consist of, but are not limited to the following: I. Field/Subsurface Exploration • Assume a minimum of 2 exploration borings for each storm damage site. Backfill borings per County Design Criteria requirements. • A County encroachment permit will not be required. • No environmental permits are required. • A lane closure on Soquel San Jose Road will be permitted during drilling operations. Full road closure will be permitted on Eureka Canyon and Highland Way during drilling operations. Traffic control must be under flagger control, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 pm weekdays only. For full road closure, the roadway can be closed for periods not to exceed 4 hours, after each stoppage, all accumulated traffic must pass through the work zone before another stoppage is made. A proposed traffic control plan with proposed detour routes will need to be submitted for approval by the Project Manager a minimum of three (3) days prior to the scheduled drilling operations and must comply with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. • Consultant will be required to assess existing utilities present at the storm damage sites prior to any ground disturbing activities and be responsible for any coordination involved with outside utility agencies/companies. • Field Sampling and Laboratory Testing II. Draft Geotechnical Report (one pdf (1)) submitted to the County for review and comment • Investigate at least three repair methods; one of the repair methods investigated needs to be an in-kind repair such as embankment reconstruction. This will be used to prepare a betterment justification for FHWA approval. • Retaining Wall Design Criteria and Construction Guidance: - Total Unit Weight of Soil, Internal Angle of Friction (ϕ), Undrained Shear Strength (c), - Passive Lateral Earth Pressures, Active Lateral Earth Pressures, Seismic Loading, - Minimum Cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) Diameter, Spacing and Embedment into intact rock - Wall Drainage and Backfill Requirements, - Excavation and Shoring, include maximum cut slopes permitted during construction, - Soil Nail/Ground-Anchor Recommendations, - And any other pertinent design factors determined necessary for the design of the recommended retaining wall design.
