Specifications include, but are not limited to: The legal services to be provided must include, and are not limited to: • Providing proactive, high-quality, and timely legal opinions to City Council, the City Manager, or authorized City staff. • Attending regular meetings of the City Council, and occasionally special-called meetings. (Regular scheduled meetings are typically held on the 3rd Monday of the month) • Reviewing and/or drafting ordinances, resolutions, and other documents as requested by the City Manager or City Council. • Reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and ordinances. • Drafting, negotiating, administering and reviewing contract/agreements as well as assisting with contract/agreement disputes. • The Municipal Attorney shall conduct all legal correspondence for the city with regards to all legal matters except in the event a third-party attorney is authorized by the City to handle matters which fall outside the scope of the Municipal Attorney. The Municipal Attorney may utilize other attorneys and or staff within their firm to aid and assist them in their duties as the Municipal Attorney when may be necessary. • Maintaining an appropriate relationship with professional organizations in the field of municipal legal services. • All other matters typically associated with municipal government operations include prosecutorial services, if applicable. • The Municipal Attorney is responsible for keeping City Council abreast of any and all new and pending litigation pertaining to the City. • Other services as may be directed by City Council or the City Manager.
