Specifications include, but are not limited to: Contract Specifications for Bid Group A and B, Disc Harrow A. The following equipment is required to be furnished by the Contractor for disc gang harrow: 1. Crawler tractor or skidder with a minimum of 160 horsepower at the flywheel. Skidder, if used, shall be minimum John Deere 648, or equivalent. 2. A disc gang harrow mounted to the rear of the prime mover, having two (2) hydraulically independently adjustable angled gangs each of 4 to 5 serrated discs, having a minimum diameter of 26”. The disc gangs shall be capable of applying hydraulic down pressure sufficient to stand the rear end of the prime mover off the ground while not moving, as well as having a float-mode. C. Timing and weather restrictions 1. Site must be adequately dry (as determined by the Project Supervisor) before work begins to avoid compaction and rutting. 2. If rain or other precipitation events create a significant change in soil moisture while work is in progress the Contractor must stop operation and contact the Project Supervisor. D. Payment and Treatment Standards 1. Non-treatable acreages less than ½ acre are included in treatable site acreage values. Non-treatable acreage reserves equal to or greater than ½ acre are not counted towards the tract’s treatment acreage. 2. When a percentage of exposed mineral soil is indicated for a treatment unit, it is agreed that the metric will be applied on square chain (66’ x 66’) plots randomly located across the entire site. It may be necessary for up to a maximum of two passes to me made to work towards achieving the specified mineral soil exposure. 3. Scarification of topsoil should be light, Project Supervisor will advise Contractor to alter operations of excessive removal of topsoil occurs. 4. Brush and tree saplings up to 3 inches in diameter should be knocked down as directed by the Project Supervisor. 5. To help prevent erosion, slopes greater than 20 percent will not be treated.
