The objective of the project is to develop a citywide plan and cost assessment for the implementation and integration of the USGS earthquake early warning system, ShakeAlert, in City-owned facilities, critical infrastructure, and IT systems. These include emergency response facilities, as well as water, wastewater, transportation infrastructure, and communication systems. The outcome of this project will produce a detailed implementation plan, scope of work perhaps broken into phases, a schedule and budget to be utilized to secure funding for the actual implementation of ShakeAlert Technology. This technology, in the event of an earthquake, aims to save lives, reduce injuries and damage, and enhance community resilience by mitigating longer-term economic losses.
