This project includes the alteration and upgrade of existing spaces consisting of approximately 15,000 square feet within the existing footprint of Foran High School. It will include new technology, equipment and furnishings. The project includes the following concepts: a. Wood Studio: The Wood Studio is a dynamic, multi-functional space designed to immerse students in the practical aspects of various trades and engineering disciplines. It's a place where theory meets hands-on application, fostering a deep understanding of craftsmanship and technical skills. Here, students can explore an array of courses and utilize state-of-the-art equipment to bring their projects to life. i. Courses that could be in the room: Home and Auto Maintenance, Residential Construction, Finish Carpentry, Intro to Engineering Design, Intro to Manufacturing, CAM: Computer-Aided Manufacturing ii. Example of Equipment to support learning ● Space and Storage: ○ Space to build a structure. Staging area/reusable practice space, Cabinets, Large door for moving large things in and out (shed etc.), Work Benches, Storage for projects, Tool Cribs, Climate-controlled wood storage ● Portable Tools: ○ Portable Sawzall, Portable circular saw, Sledgehammers, Framing nail guns, Multimeters, Electrical hand tools (screwdrivers, wire cutters, tape, wiring checkers, Circuit panel), Plumbing tools (pipe cutter, solder, hacksaws, SharkBite tools). Trim nail guns.
