Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.1 This contract shall consist of providing Group B (Large) sign panels, sign panel overlays, sign panels with frames, school speed limit assemblies, posts, bases, foundations, grading, and miscellaneous labor and materials, and other items as specified by UDOT. The contract also provides for installing, replacing, removing, disposing of and obliteration of the same. 1.2 Sign Group 1.2.1 Group B consists of sign panels with frames, and sign panel overlays of existing signs with frames, and Exit Gore Signs with mounting bar. Group B signs will be fabricated with 0.125 inch thick aluminum substrate. 1.2.2 The majority of Group B signs will be for freeway applications. 1.3 Sign panels, materials, and installation shall conform to UDOT 2017 Standard and Supplemental Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, particularly sections 02890, 02891, 05120, 02721, and 03055, and the 2017 Standard and Supplemental Drawings, particularly the SN Series. Furnish and install sign panels and sign panel overlays. Furnish and install posts and bases. This work includes excavation, foundations, grading, and other work. Remove, dispose of, and obliterate existing sign installations as specified by UDOT. All retroreflective sheeting meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of ASTM Type XI, except for Adopt-a-Highway Signs and Plaques, Sponsor-a-Highway Signs, and Memorial Signs as noted in 2.18. Furnish and Install Barrier Mounted Sign Bases as shown in SN Standard Drawing Series. Furnish and Install Surface Mounted Sign Bases as shown in SN Standard Drawing Series. Furnish and Install Ground Mounted Sign Bases and foundations as shown in SN Standard Drawing Series Furnish Sign Panels and Sign Panel Overlays according to the UDOT work order. Affix a one-inch high two-digit numeral of contrasting sheeting representing the fabrication year to the front lower left corner of each sign. Represent the year 2019 as “19”, and so forth. Provide an impermeable, non-fading, weather-resistant, self-adhesive label, approximately 4 inches by 4 inches in size. On new sign panel installations, affix the label to the back lower right corner of each sign. When placing sign overlay panels, if the overlay panel is larger than the existing sign, and the back of the new overlay panel is visible from the back of the sign, place the label on the back lower right corner of the new sign panel overlay substrate. When the sign panel overlay is the same size as the existing sign, place the label on the back lower right corner of the existing sign substrate. The label contains the month and year of manufacture, the contractor’s name, and the type of sheeting on the sign panel (use the ASTM Type when available).
