Specifications include, but are not limited to: Triage-level Assessment and Referral. The grantee will: Provide a centralized, consistent response to all requests for services. Determine most appropriate response to each request for consultation. Utilize State-approved Triage Protocol as a guide. Coordinate requests for service with the State consultation facilitator to determine current service array and necessary follow-up assessments and consultations needed prior to the provision of psychiatric consultation. Provide referrals to health care, social service, and other types of providers or organizations, as appropriate, to all requests for services. Psychiatric Consultations. The grantee will: Provide voluntary consultations to improve collaboration between primary care and behavioral health care providers. At the direction of the State consultation facilitator, provide consultation to social service providers of children in foster care based upon State protocol to insure optimal combination of medication and mental health treatment. For specific cases selected by State, provide “second opinion” consultations relating to psychotropic prescriptions that exceed certain thresholds or polypharmacy thresholds (http://www.dhs.state.mn.us/dhs16_160261) for children on Medical Assistance.
