Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Successful Bidder shall apply herbicide to the areas designated by the County Project Manager. All of this work shall be performed under the supervision of the County Project Manager and under Maryland Department of Agriculture regulations pertaining to pesticide application (15.05.01). 8.2 Guardrails - The Successful Bidder shall apply Glyphosate at a rate of five (5) quarts per acre. Final treatment volume after mixing with water will be fifty (50) gallons per acre (i.e. 1.25 gallons of Glyphosate in 48.75 gallons of water or 2.5% spray solution). Treatment shall be at fifteen (15) psi and at a vehicle speed of three (3) mph. Field calibration shall determine final psi and nozzle tip size. Obstacles such as traffic signs, bridges, and culverts shall be treated by backpack or handgun. Spraying shall cease when winds exceed five (5) mph sustained or are gusty. Fence Lines - The Successful Bidder shall apply a two percent (2.5%) spray solution of Glyphosate on a spray-to-wet basis along fence lines in County-owned facilities and stormwater management practices. Treatment shall consist of two (2) 1 ft. spray swaths, one on each side of the fence EXCEPT when private, manicured yards directly abut to the County fence line. IN these cases only one 6" swath shall be sprayed from the inside of the County fence line. Treatments shall be applied using low pressure, large droplet size to eliminate drift and shall avoid all ornamental plantings. Fences covered with weeds shall also be treated when conditions allow for safe application. Gravel access roads shall also be treated if weed covered. Any changes to spray swath shall be on a case by case basis subject to the County Project Manager’s approval. When in doubt, do not spray! 8.4 Roadways - The Successful Bidder shall apply a two and one-half percent (2.5%) concentration of Glyphosate to roadway vegetation in road cracks, curbs, and shoulders or as directed by the County Project Manager or his designee. Extreme care shall be practiced while spraying near landscaped areas to avoid drift and misapplication. Application practices shall follow those outlined in this Solicitation.
