The existing steam heating plant is a Smith Mills 350, 10-section, 2954 MBH, with a natural gas Webster JB2G-07-R77795C-H20 burner. The condensate receiver/feed unit is a Domestic-Ames Model: VCMD-4 CMHD-A. The boiler is forced draft through a Metal-Fab 16IPIC flue system. The near piping insulation is presumed to be ACM and will be remediated by the City prior to the boiler replacement. The project is to replace the boiler, burner, feed tank and any piping, valves, insulation etc. associated with the replacement. Some of the existing conditions are as follows: • The boiler room is located 1 floor below grade in the basement. There is sidewalk level access in the rear of the building through a 39”x79.5” door opening, through a wide hallway approximately 50’, down staircase (34.5”x79.5” door 54” wide steps), through a basement door (38”x82”) through a wide basement hallway approximately 50’, and in through boiler room door (39”x81.5”). • The building elevator is NOT available for the contractor’s use. • The boiler sits on 3.5” concrete blocks. • Natural gas service to the boiler is 3” with 2” gas train. • Boiler burner is fed via 3 pole 30A, 208VAC fused disconnect (Note: #14 solid conductors are used, assume maximum current available is 16A). The draft inducer is also fed via 3 pole 30A, 208VAC fused disconnect (Note: #14 solid conductors are used, assume maximum current available is 16A) • The boiler feed tank is approximately 30” diameter and 44” long (approximately 130 gal). • The boiler feed tank is fed via 3 pole 208VAC, #10 conductors (assume 30A). The 2 existing feed pumps are 1/2hp, 208VAC, 3 phase. The 2 vacuum pumps are 208VAC, 3 phase, 3/4hp. • The boiler is equipped with an auto feed; the new boiler will have a fast fill only, no auto feed. • Building steam main is 6”, there is a 6” OS&Y valve at the riser connection to the building. • Condensate feed line to boiler is 2”. • Flue vent is 16” ID stainless inner with 2” of ceramic insulation and aluminized steel jacket. The selected boiler must be compatible with this flue system.
