A. Contractor shall provide all materials, labor, equipment, tools, labor, and supervision necessary to apply the paint striping and decals in the 75 feet x 75 feet helipad, per plans and specifications dated August 23, 2022, named Bieber Fire Station Helipad Layout Plan, and found attached as Attachment 2, Layout Plan. B. Environmental Limitations: Proceed with pavement marking only on clean, dry surfaces and at a minimum ambient or surface temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit for water-based materials, and not exceeding 95 degrees Fahrenheit. C. Pavement Marking: 1) Do not apply pavement marking paint until layout, colors, and placement have been verified with the Engineer of Record. 2) Allow asphalt paving or concrete surfaces to age for a minimum of thirty (30) days before starting pavement marking. 3) Sweep and clean surface to eliminate loose material and dust. 4) Apply paint with mechanical equipment to produce pavement markings, of dimensions indicated, with uniform, straight edges. Apply at manufacturer’s recommended rates to provide a minimum wet film thickness of 15 mils. 5) Pavement-Marking Paint, Acrylic: Acrylic, waterborne emulsion, lead, and chromate free, ready mixed, complying with Federal Specification (FS) TT-P-1952F, Type II, with drying time of less than 45 minutes.Color: Fed Std. No 595 (White-37925, Yellow-33538, Black-37038). 6) Glass Beads Specifications: American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) M 247, Type 1, or FS TT-B-1325D, Type 1. Roundness: Minimum 75 percent true spheres by weight. D. Examination: Verify that pavement marking substrate is dry and in suitable condition to begin pavement marking in accordance with manufacture’s written instructions E. Protecting and Cleaning: Protect pavement markings from damage and wear during remainder of construction period. Clean spillage and soiling from adjacent construction using cleaning agents and procedures recommended by manufacturer of affected construction.
