Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. Bin body -- A standard six-cubic yard, steel trash bin with sloped top consisting of four sides with 14-gauge prime steel with ribs and flanged corners, and with 12-gauge prime steel bottom. Solid inseam weld for all sides and bottom. It shall have front sloping or cathedral design. Front, back, and bottom shall have not less than two stiffening corrugations each, running in the direction of greatest dimension to provide suitable rigidity. Two (2), enclosed, continuous, 4” skid/support beams, equally spaced along on the bottom of the bin, designed to cushion the impact of the bins when lowered from trash trucks. b. Side Lift Channels — Two (2), 12-gauge steel channels, one channel on each side of the bin. Each channel shall be 4” w, 8.5” h, 55” d. Front edge of lift channel reinforced by formed steel band, ¼ inch x 3-inch. The bottom of the channel shall be 25” from the bottom of the bin. Side lift channel welded to bin with solid and continuous welds. Each channel shall be reinforced by eight gussets, not less than 3” x 3”, continuously welded to bin and lift channels. c. Lid —(see Attachment 1) One (1), 14-gauge steel lid with a single panel design, and constructed to deter theft. Two angle irons are on the top of lid on the right and left side. The top of the lid has three (3) 7-gauge hinges with 0.75” pins welded on 2.5" channel reinforcement connected to the body of the bin. The lid shall have two (2) link-chains connected on the inside of the bin body to prevent the lid from swinging and colliding with the rear of the bin when lifted and emptied by the trash truck. One (1), 0.75” thick lock plate that will position between the two lock plates on the structural angle iron as described in section d. below. It has angle irons on all four sides on the underside of the lid (see Attachment 4). d. Structural Angle Iron and Lock --- One (1) continuous, 72” piece of angle iron, “L”-shape, running the entire width of the bin. The angle iron pivots from the bottom and swings up over the lid of the bin (see Attachment A). It is held in place by its own weight and clasp with an ABUS, maximum 10 model 83/55 2 1/4" hardened solid steel padlock or equal securing the angle iron to bin. The ABUS locks will be provided and installed by the Housing Authority. The angle iron shall be secured through two (2), 0.75” thick lock plates resting on either side of the lock plate on the lid allowing the padlock to pass through and clasp shut (see Attachments 4 and 5) e. Drain plug -- One (1) drain plug, 2 inches in diameter shall be located at the bottom of each bin.
