Quantities Liquid sodium hypochlorite shall be delivered in 4500 -gallon truck load shipments. Unloading of hypochlorite shall be by a pump provided on the delivery truck and shall be placed into the appropriate 5000 gallon storage tanks onsite at the treatment plant as directed by the treatment plant staff. Impurities Sodium hypochlorite shall contain no soluble material or organic substances in quantities capable of producing deleterious effects on the health of those consuming water that has been treated properly with the sodium hypochlorite. Sodium hypochlorite also must comply with the specifications listed below related to impurities. Standard Liquid sodium hypochlorite must meet AWWA Standard B300. Specifications Sodium hypochlorite shall have a minimum of 10 percent by weight NaOCl. Hypochlorite supplied shall be free of visible sediment. A 1,000 mL sample of the sodium hypochlorite supplied shall pass through a 0.8 micron filter under vacuum within five minutes. Water treatment operators will perform this test prior to accepting each delivery for unloading. Sodium hypochlorite also shall meet the contaminant concentration limits below.
