Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Learning and educational activities based on the museum approach as a natural bridge to inquirybased learning. • Flexible learning spaces to support both a museum approach and the inquiry-based framework. • Collaborative spaces that will naturally promote shared learning among students. • Play, inquiry, and discovery areas through the second-grade level to foster free play and choice time. • Specialized instruction in addition to core academics to promote a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). • Special educational needs to promote true integration while offering a continuum of high-quality customized services and interventions for diverse needs of all students. • Educational supporting spaces such as general classrooms and specialized instructional spaces to promote creativity and innovation. • Science areas that provide hands on experiences along with exploration of natural surroundings such as birds, marine life, etc. • Dramatic play areas such as a child size kitchen. • Areas that include creative art and movement spaces. • Library/Media spaces, cafeteria, gym, and a health office. • The development of counseling office space and group meeting spaces sufficient for the administrative team and related services support staff. • The development of sensory, therapeutic, and support services spaces. • Development of age-appropriate play-scapes/playgrounds suitable for use for occupational and physical therapy. • A family resource center to support parents and families. • Media and technology support, faculty and staff lounge, and mechanical, maintenance, and storage areas.
