The Phoenix Union High School District (PXU) is seeking a qualified vendor(s) that can provide caring adult mentors to develop and maintain relationships with students to help them establish a sense of connectedness to their education and education community, navigate their unique high school experience, and acquire the skills to achieve their college, career, and life goals. The proposed student mentors will collaborate with administration, counselors, support services and families to coordinate and facilitate a variety of supports to assist students in developing and/or enhancing a sense of connectedness, graduating high school, and preparing for postsecondary next steps. Most mentors will work through the PXU Engagement Center, which was launched in August of 2023 to re-engage youth that have disconnected from high school and/or engage youth that opted out of PXU schools. The Engagement Center currently has approximately 20 students re-enrolled in schools within the PXU portfolio and anticipates growing upwards of 200 – 300 students through Summer 2025. Mentors will be assigned specific students to work to assist with the re-enrollment process and welcoming, provide coaching, on-going check-ins, and support throughout their time with PXU. Mentors may also work with individual or small groups of students on campuses throughout the district or at the Engagement Center on an as needed basis. The district is NOT seeking tutoring services.
